A vital part of the EDC's strategy is to promote retail investment in the community. Granbury-Hood County understands that retail development leads to new sales tax dollars as well as enhancements to the quality of life in the area. In April 2006, the EDC commissioned a retail leakage analysis and trade area determination report to identify the greatest retail opportunities for Granbury-Hood County. This report is used in marketing the area to hoteliers, retailers, and restaurants.

Each year the EDC attends retail shows and conventions sponsored by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in an effort to market the area for new retail development.
